Why is myspace so popular?

I have Myspace and I can see that it is very popular compared to myyearbook.com and tagworld.com. Why?

I'm a myspace user as well and I've wondered the same thing, and this is my conclusion. You go to, say, Kanye West's or Dane Cook's actual website because you like them, you like what they offer the world through their talent. With myspace, everybody has that same power to create a site that anybody, who wants to, can look at. Social networking.
Reply:Because it is the newest fad on the internet. It's really not allowing you to do anything different than what free Yahoo webpages and chat rooms did before.
Reply:I don't know why with the kids, but I know why it is popular with the perverts. Kids put their pictures, location, and personal information on myspace for anybody to find. That is worse than talking to strangers. Somebody needs to teach our youth internet safety.

It seems like it's basically a site for those who are single, which is maybe why I can't get any entertainment out of it. Oh, and to post overly contrasted photos of one's self that were taken from overhead.

So in summary - people are whores, and that is why myspace.com is popular. (It also has the most media coverage.. CNN.com just did a story on them.)
Reply:well for one ive never heard of myyearbook.com or tagworld.com so they must not be that popular but i think its because people are allowed to customize their pages so that they can reflect someones personality (if thats not a feature of the other websites) and its also really popular because you have all the slutty 13 and 14 year old girls passing themselves off as if they were older and posting pictures of their breasts and asses when they should be at home reading a book or doing their homework cause no one wants to see that s**t

Reply:You can keep in touch with old friends that are in different parts of the country now. No name bands can post thier info and get a big fan base very quickly. It's just for fun.

I mean i do but i dont know why it is so intertaining. People are weird nowadays and they can't see someone for themselves all they do is go to sites like that and see naked men and women. It is more dangerous to meet someone on the internet than in person because you will talk a little before you meet. I find it stupid. For people who just have accounts, I don't care but I agree with most of the people. It is gay and stupid!!

Reply:It's popular because people like it (definition of popularity here, no dah). This is probably because it's a personal space on the web that can be customised, it's also a good way to stay in touch with friends and also meet people with similar interests. Also, it has the band pages, which i believe the two other sites don't have. You can put nearly any music on a myspace, and it allows small bands (and large ones, too) to get the word out about themselves.
Reply:Personally, I don't know why It's that popular at all, except for the fact that everywhere you go everyone is talking about there MySpace account. It's actually starting to drive me nuts! Oh well, This is propably just a big, stupid fad... In my eyes at least.
