What's so interesting about sites like MySpace and TagWorld?

I've browsed around these sites and I don't understand why they are so popular. I'm looking for people that use these sites that can tell me what they really like about them. Also, are there any other similar sites?

One of the main purposes of these sites is the ability to keep in touch. Especially for students, who have gone to college, and wish to remain in contact with their friends. I, as a high schooloer, have realized that it is easier to even keep in contact with those that you see everyday, but don't get to talk to due to a busy schedule. People also like to see what their friends like to do on the internet. What is on a person's profile is somewhat a reflection of that person's personality.
Reply:I like myspace because I have found friends from high school on there. It's a good place to talk to your friends when you don't have time to call them like when your at work. I think it's kinda like e-mail.
